About

Who will be helping me further my creative voice?

Portrait

My name is Toby Boehringer. I’ve been making music since I was little.

Piano at 5. Composing around 10. Eventually drumset, keyboards, production, songwriting, video, and whatever other medium lets me turn an idea into something real.

I went to college for jazz performance on drumset and spent years going deep into rhythm, harmony, melody, improvisation, and music theory. I love knowing how music works.

But I’m even more interested in what happens when you stop treating those rules like walls.

That’s where DON’T THINK comes from.

Composition has always been the centre of it for me. Taking a strange feeling, a chord, a rhythm, an image, or some half-formed idea floating around in my head and building a world out of it.

Music, video, colour, rhythm, storytelling — it all starts blending together after a while.

The same problem shows up in every medium: deciding what an idea is supposed to look like before you’ve let it exist. So does the fix.

That’s what I want to help other people find.

  • Not just how to play the right notes, but how to trust the weird ones.
  • How to stop asking, “Is this correct?”
  • How to experiment.
  • How to follow an idea before you fully understand it.

I can teach piano, drums, theory, songwriting, composition, rhythm, and production.

But the bigger goal is creativity.

Learn the rules.
Open the door.
Then forget where the door was.
